

Q3) Little experience here, but I would look at the option of cloning the drive onto the SSD. If you try to go smaller, you will usually find that the price increases enough (even a few dollars) to the point where you may as well get the 1 TB. Notebook drives tend to be more expensive, but a general rule of thumb is 1 TB is the standard size for pricing. I would ask this: do you need more storage? If so, then I would suggest the second drive be an HDD of at least 1 TB. The reason is, I just don't have any experience with tearing Macs down. Q2) I am not sure what to suggest about removing the disk drive for the second drive caddy. I've searched but I'm confident that I probably missed many valuable posts/info.

I'm happy to read if anyone has any links related to the subject that they can post. *The only part that has been replaced is the battery because it failed at 199 cycle count which bulged and affected the performance of my trackpad. Should I replace any fans or other components as preventative maintenance or are there any upgrades that I can do?
